Only 1 Buy Signal Left on the Watchlist as Growth Names Get Priced for Perfection

Weekly Digest
Week of August 31 – September 06, 2026

Buy signals thinned out further this week – just 1 of the 38 names StreetBriefs tracks (2.6%) still clears the model’s bar, while Sell signals now cover 42.1%. The pattern showed up clearly in this week’s most-covered names: GitLab, Snowflake and Intel all delivered strong price action or standout growth scores, yet every one of them landed on Hold once the model’s Quality and Opportunity pillars were applied. Growth, in other words, isn’t scarce right now – cheap, sustainably profitable growth is.

The big money is not in the buying and the selling, but in the waiting.

This Week’s Highlights

GitLab’s Growth Score Leads the Week, Valuation Doesn’t Follow

This week’s top mover, GitLab (GTLB), rose roughly 10% over the past week or so and posted the highest Growth score (0.85) of any ticker StreetBriefs covered this week, backed by 21.3% trailing revenue growth. Quality came in at 0.58, but the Opportunity score – StreetBriefs’ valuation-focused pillar – sits at just 0.33, holding the combined Rec Score to 0.59 and the model’s signal at Hold.

Why It Matters

A strong growth score alone doesn’t clear StreetBriefs’ Buy bar – the model still wants a reasonable entry point, and GitLab’s recent run has made that harder to argue for.

Snowflake Hits a Two-Year High – and the Cheapest Opportunity Score of the Week

Snowflake (SNOW) climbed roughly 8.3% over the past week or so to a two-year high, with 33.5% trailing revenue growth pushing its Growth score to 0.80 – second-highest of the week. But its Opportunity score of just 0.11 was the lowest StreetBriefs measured on any name covered this week, and a Quality score of 0.47 left the Rec Score at 0.46 – Hold.

Why It Matters

The gap between Snowflake’s growth and its valuation score is the starkest illustration this week of a theme running through several names: fast growth is easy to find right now, cheap growth much less so.

Intel Is Up Roughly 475% From Its Low – the Model Still Isn’t Convinced

Intel (INTC) has climbed roughly 475% off its two-year low, but StreetBriefs’ model kept its signal at Hold, with the lowest Rec Score (0.37) among this week’s covered tickers – Quality of 0.48, Growth of 0.45, and an Opportunity score of just 0.18 despite the size of the rally.

Why It Matters

A big price recovery doesn’t reset the underlying scorecard – Intel’s fundamentals, not its chart, are still what’s keeping the model on the sidelines.

Next week we’ll be watching whether any of this week’s movers can pair their price action with the fundamentals needed to clear StreetBriefs’ Buy bar – and whether the shrinking pool of Buy-rated names keeps shrinking.
